Gravette Choir Performs On AETN Television

— Gravette residents who tuned into AETN, Arkansas Public Television Network, last Tuesday night were treated to a choral program which included a performance by the Gravette High School Select Choir.

The choir, directed by Rachel Galloway, was one of only 14 choral groups, selected from schools throughout the state which were featured in a Tim Janis “Celebrate America” musical special.

The Gravette group’s number in the program was “This Little Light of Mine” which added an upbeat touch to the program which included songs that Andrea Prescott, Janis’ spokesperson, said were “to spotlight our nation’s youth and pull communities together in a celebration of music that inspires.” The program was taped in Conway several weeks earlier.

Announcers during the program indicated that the station was receiving many calls from Gravette supporters. Whether the required 50 to receive a $500 gift for the choir was reached was not known at press time.

Excellent Rating

The choir recently received an Excellent rating during the regional Choral Performance Assessment held at Arend Arts Center in Bentonville, Galloway said.

The group was chosen to sing the National Anthem at pre-game of the Natural’s baseball game in Springdale, Thursday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m., Galloway added. Members of the choir are selling tickets to the game. See related story and photo on page 1.
