Hospital Opens Doors As Area Storm Shelter

— As tornado season approaches, since Gravette does not have a designated tornado shelter, Ozarks Community Hospital of Gravette has announced “the hospital facility is available as a tornado shelter in dangerous weather,” according to Jayna Gardetti, OCH community representative.

“The building is easily accessible to Gravette and the surrounding areas and is large and structurallysound,” she added.

In the event of a tornado warning, citizens may take shelter at the hospital if their homes are deemed unsafe. The hospital’s basement can accommodate a large number of people if necessary.

The hospital is a designated command center in association with other Northwest Arkansas community hospitals and is currently preparing for its annual disaster response drill.
