Carol Battiest

Carol Jean Battiest, 60, of Colcord, Okla., died March 17, 2010, at her home.

She was born Feb. 12, 1950, in Locust Grove, Okla., to Hoyle Gene Parmley and Nora Marie Peircy Parmley. She married Junior Leon Battiest in Stillwell, Okla., on Feb. 19, 1965. She moved to the Colcord area from Inola in 1992 and owned a dairy farm for five years. She also owned CJ’s Country Corner in Colcord.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was survived by her husband Leon of the home; son David Lloyd Battiest and daughter-in-law Cindy Battiest; son William “Willie” Battiest; daughter Teri Stacks; daughter Marilyn Swaim and son-in-law Gary Swaim; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services were March 19 at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with John Key and Conley Chesney officiating.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

llama Andrew Dantzler

William Andrew Dantzler, 78, of Gentry, died March 17, 2010, at his home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1931, in Brewton, Ala., to Lemmie Alvin Dantzler and Lynn Singleton Dantzler. He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda Jean Dantzler of the home; a son, Warren Dantzler and wife Lynn of Brewton; a daughter, Leigh Nelms and husband David of Rogers; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers.

A memorial service was held March 22 at the First Christian Church in Gentry.

Cremation arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Leland Lucas

Leland Lucas, 68, of Siloam Springs, died March 14, 2010, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 28, 1941, in Woodward, Okla., to Harry Wayne Lucas and Myrle Irene Secreist Lucas. He lived most of his life in Northwest Arkansas. He was a farmer and construction worker. He married Wanda Gibson in Miami, Okla., on May 4, 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Leroy Lucas.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three children, Harry E. Gibson and wife Anita of Colcord, Okla., Don Gibson of Columbia, Mo., and Juanita Melton and husband David of Herculaneum, Mo.; five brothers, Myron Lucas of Jay, Okla., Wayne Lucas and wife Nell of Tulsa, Okla., Charlie Lucas and wife Anita of Broken Arrow, Okla., Ray Lucas and wife Sue of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jim Lucas and wife Jan of Boise, Idaho; four sisters, Margaret Gordon of Cypress City, Texas, Thelma Norsthworthy and husband A.T. of Roundrock, Texas, Rea Mae Grisham and husband Don of Renton, Wash., and Faye Sheppard and husband Roger of Siloam Springs.

Funeral services were March 18 at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs,with Rob Williams and-Harry E. Gibson officiating. Burial followed at Bell Cemetery in Watts, Okla.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Richard Mac McCranie

Richard Mac McCranie, 81 of Fayetteville, died March 15, 2010, at the Fayetteville Veteran’s Home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Anniston, Ala., to Jeremiah McCranie and Anna Eldora (Fuller) McCranie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was affiliated with the Springtown Seventh Day Adventist Church in Springtown.

Survivors include a son, Michael McCranie of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter,Miracle McCranie, and a son, David McCranie, three sisters and one brother.

An internment of the cremains was held March 22 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Cremation arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Orville Spence

Orville (Fug) Spence, 77, of Colcord, Okla., died March 18th, 2010 at Monroe Manor in Jay, Okla.

He was born in Delaware County, Okla., on Sept. 21, 1932, to Walter and Ann (Wofford) Cunningham. He was a truck driver for Peterson Farms and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Zimmerman; and one son, Calvin Spence.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Wofford of Colcord, and Debra Wagoner of Centerton; two sons, Rick Spence of Southwest City, Mo., and Wayne Spence of Colcord; four step-children, Jolynn Earley of Gentry, Dennis Riley of Arkansas, Marvin Riley of Rogers, Eddie Riley of Gentry; one sister, Edna Breckingridge of Colcord; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services were held March 22 at Dickson Cemetery in Cherokee City, with Larry Ellis officiating.

Arrangements were by Funeral Services of Grand Lake, located in Grove, Jay and Langley, Okla.

Eddie Wayne Webb

Eddie Wayne Webb, 69, of Gentry, died at the Meadowbrook Specialty Care Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

He was born July 12, 1940, in Clarksville, to Henry Miles and Ada Garland Webb. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam era. He was a Department of Agriculture inspector and then worked for Black and Decker in Decatur.

Survivors include three daughters, Coleen Webb, and Susie Harris and husband Ronnie, all of Colcord, Okla., and Carrie McFerron and husband Pat of Gentry; a son, Cameron Webb and wife Julie of Siloam Springs; a brother, Dan Webb and wife Joyce of Siloam Springs; and a sister.

Funeral services were held March 18 at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Burial was at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
