Weather Probably Delays Planting Community Garden

— The first early garden planting date at the Gravette Community Garden is fast approaching, according to Marisol Jackson, director of the project.

Planting days will be March 24 - 27, weather permitting, she said.

“Our bad weather the past weekend will put us out too late this week before we can tromp around in the mud. I am excited as all the vegetables are ready to go into the ground.

“We are planting only the first garden. Flowers will be going into the planter box and flower beds and signs on order will go on the trellis andposts in the flower bed.”

The signs were purchased with grant money, she explained.

Marisol continued, “Anyone interested in helping in the very small planting or constructionthisspringbreak is welcome to call me. I will be there throughout the week

“We are still in need of 2 - 4 cattle panels and a group to take on building the raised beds (6 - 8 8’ x 2’). We have landscape timbers for three beds and fencing assistance is welcome.

“Please e-mail or call me at 479-899-7290. Thank you for your support on this project !”
