Charlotte’s Corner - March full of events, activities

— So, who is ready for one more snow storm? I know, they never come at a great time, but this storm that we got on the first day of Spring was a doozy.

My kids got an extra day home from college, and Haley got an extra day off of school. They had all been on Spring break and the storm came as my children were going back to college. So, they left a day late and will have makeup homework, but you cannot always make up a lost life.

I guess no one could say the snow was not beautiful.

Congratulations to Lacey Taylor and Chris Ransom on their recent wedding. We wish you all the blessings of a wonderful marriage. I hope you have many years of happiness together.

March has seen a lot of birthdays. One special one is Bob Tharp - George insisted I put your name at the top of the list. So, Bob, we hope your day was fun. Also, my niece KimberliPark turned 15, and I had two brother-inlaws have birthdays: Rusty Taylor, my sister Darla’s husband, and Charles Robinson, my husband’s brother, each had birthdays. Pat Adams, Glenda Prince, Lila Shawver, Kenni Alsip, Karen Brinegar, Marie Switzer, Cheryl Roque, Heidi Langston, Steve Ellis, Richard Pettey and Phil Norwood had birthdays. We wish them a belated happy birthday.

My youngest little bird in the nest, Haley, got her driver’s license this last week. We are thrilled for her to have that. I know getting a license is a big deal, and we are thrilled that she waited long enough to have a few brains before she got it. I know everyone thinks a kid should get a license the day they turn 14, but believe me, there are too many kids that age driving to make me feel safe, so I am glad she was so good natured about waiting.

Benton sent me a text message and told me that his gymnastic teamwent to Albuquerque, N.M., for the weekend.

One thing about being on a team like that, you get to travel a good deal. Haley’s puppet / skit class is going to be on tour this weekend, so it is going to be just dad and mom at home.

I can see the empty nest syndrome knocking at my door, and I don’t like it, not one bit.

I hear Decatur has about three or four candidates for the mayor’s office. That is so wonderful - the more, the merrier. Now, don’t forget to get out there and vote come election day.

That is the one way we can show our support and make our voices heard. Good luck to all the candidates! I know they all would do a great job.

Once again, enjoy the planting season! I hope many people can get a nice garden started. It seems that groceries are getting so costly and any home-grown food would be a benefit for any people growing their own food. I only wish I had a spot for a garden. Enjoy April.
