4-Hers have had the opportunity to compete in several contests during the past month.
The 4-H Performing Arts Contest brought out many talented young people.
Junior (ages 9-13) and Senior (ages 14-19) winners were selected in each division.
Kayton Coffee won the Junior Vocal Division and Kaylin Cripps took the Senior honors.
Coffee is a member of the Town and Country 4-H Club and Cripps is with the Bloomfield 4-H Club.
Haley House of A.C.E. 4-H took top honors in the Senior Dance Arts division.
Lauren and Cole Leonard of the Town and Country 4-H Club won the top awards in the Junior Group Classical and Group Non-Classical Instrumental divisions and Lauren Leonard won the Jr. Individual Non-Classical Instrumental division.
The Senior Individual Classical Instrumental award went to Saber Treat of the Gravette Gleamers 4-H Club and the Senior Individual Non-Classical award was won by Jennifer Isgrigg of Cannonball4-H.
The Cave Springs 4-H Club won the club skit division.
The following overall division winners will represent Benton County at the Regional Performing Arts Contest: Vocal - Senior Kaylin Cripps and Junior Kayton Coffee; Dance - Senior Haley House; Instrumental - Juniors Lauren and Cole Leonard and Senior Jennifer Isgrigg.
The County Pie Baking Contest was an overwhelming success with 104 pies being entered in the contest.
4-Hers entering pies had to make the pie crust and filling. There were four divisions including Fruit, Nut, Cream/Custard and Meringue.
Bentonville Junior Auxiliary members, as well as past 4-H leaders, served as judges for the event.
The Junior winners were Matthew Nance of Bloomfield 4-H in the Fruit and Nut divisions, Brittany Crawley of Maysville 4-H in the Cream division and Colton Padgett of the Nicodemus 4-H Club in the Meringue division.
Special awards were given to Erin Mertes for the Best and Prettiest Pie Crust. She is a member of the Cave Springs 4-H Club.The Prettiest Pie award went to Sarah Connolly of the Battlefield 4-H Club and the high point awards went to Matthew Nance and Christina Lovell.
Another baking contest was held for 4-Hers where they made and entered biscuits, sugar cookies, muffins and yeast bread.
Winners for this event included Juniors Carley Goggins of the Siloam Springs 4-H Club for her cookies, Mitchell Baker of the Nicodemus 4-H Club for her muffins, Matt Lambert of the Bloomfield 4-H Club for his biscuits and Katie Elliott of the Battlefield 4-H Club took the high point junior award.
Senior awards went to Sarah Mills of the Bloomfield -H Club for her muffins, Sarah Connolly of Battlefield 4-H for her yeast bread and Dustin Dixon of the Bloomfield 4-H Club took the prize for cookies and the high point award.
4-H is a youth development organization open to all youth between the ages of 5 and 19 regardless of race, color, national origin, gender or disability.
