Decatur basketball instructional camp to begin Thursday

— The Decatur Community Spring Basketball League will offer an instructional camp for children in kindergarten through the sixth grade atthe Decatur High School Gym during the month of April.

The league’s objective is to promote social interaction in a team concept and develop fundamental basketball skills. Each week,youth will rotate through stations, focusing on individual skills and drills, with emphasis on dribbling, ball handling, passing, shooting and defense.

The camp will begin with a skills night on April 1.

Practices will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., every Thursday night from April 8 until April 29.

Game play will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., every Saturday from April 10 through May 1.

Snacks will be provided after each game and practice.

There is no cost to participate in the league. Parents can register their children by filling out a form at their child’s school office, or theycan register before the first practice on April 8.
