Feed My Sheep Gets USDA Okay As Commodity Site

The Feed My Sheep Food Pantry of Gravette First Christian Church has been approved as a USDA Commodity Site. The announcement came from Ann Honderich, Mission Director.

Beginning April 1, interested applicants are encouraged to go to the pantry which will be open for commodity distribution each Thursday between 10 a.m. and noon. The program is income based and eligible applicants are required to furnish a photo ID and proof of residence. Appropriate forms of ID can include a Driver’s License, State ID, Social Security card with another form of ID showing address, Medicare or Medicaid card, utility bill, passport or a note from a landlord stating the person’s name and address.

Presently the pantry will serve residents of the Gravette School District. Anyone outside of this area can be referred to a commodity program in their region. Clients of the commodity program are eligible to participate in the program once a month.

According to Honderich, “We applied to be a site at the end of last year and we are very excited to be able to offer this program to our clients. I encourage anyone interested in the program to come by the pantry and see if they are eligible. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.”

Feed My Sheep Food Pantry will continue to serve clients from Northwest Arkansas, Northeast Oklahoma and Southwest Missouri with donated goods the regular operating hours of Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. The donation is not income based and, as in the past, clients seeking assistance through this program are eligible for help every thirty days.

The pantry is located across the street from the Gravette Police Department on Highway 59 at 603 First Avenue SW. Interested parties can obtain more information regarding all of the pantry programs by calling 479-787-6700 during hours of operation or calling Ann Honderich at 479-381-1547.
