Band receives superior rating

— The Decatur band received a “superior” rating at the Ozark Band Festival held on the College of the Ozarks campus in Hollister, Mo. on April 24.

The band prepared three pieces and performed for three judges who critiquedtheir performance, according to teacher Kristin Leglar.

“Not bad for their first contest ever,” she said.

Students also participated in a solo ensemble contest in Westfork on April 9 and 10. Students were assigned a room where they would play their selection for a judge. They were scored on toneand sound, tune, rythmic accuracy, nt accuracy, style, articulation, and playing together. Students are rated from I, which is excellent, to V, the lowest rating possible. Decatur’s students were all rated I and II, Leglar said.

The band will be holding a spring concert at 7 p.m., May 13 in the high school cafeteria.
