Jolly Good Time Club Votes Donation To Gravette Museum

— The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club was held Wednesday, April 28, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center with six members and two guests, Charlie Griffin and Waneta Hemphill, present.

President Jeanne Hubbard opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and Eda Montag led the group in singing “When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin’ Along”. Jeanne’s devotions focused on the importance of being humble.

Roll call was answered by six members: Chia - “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”, Mary - jokes about animals, Susan - thoughts on the uselessness of worry, Betty - thoughts on the afterlife, Jeanne - humorous account of how to give a cat a pill and Eda - a profile of an opinionated friend.

Secretary Betty Howard read the minutes of the March meeting. Mary Griffin read the treasurer’s report.

Members were asked forideas for project fund expenditures and suggestions included installation of the Lion drinking fountain, Boys and Girls Club, Feed My Sheep food pantry, Gravette Public Library and Gravette Historical Museum. Members voted to donate $75 to the Historical Museum’s building project.

Susan Holland reminded the group of the museum luncheon May 6 and the hamburger fry at the library scheduled Friday, May 21.

Mary Griffin gave the program on the “Garden of the Gods” at Thomas Edison’s winter estate overlooking the Caloosahatchee River in Ft. Myers, FL. The home is known as Seminole Lodge and its gardens feature 1,000 varieties of plants thriving in tropical gardens and many “champion trees” certified by the State of Florida.

The meeting closed with the singing of the doxology and a potluck meal.

Chia Greer will give the program for the next meeting which will be held Wednesday, May 26.
