News Herald May 12, 1960:

Kit Phillips was elected president of the Gravette Jaycees. J. Hillman Byram was first vice president; Gib Studyvin, second vice president; Arlee Blankinship, secretary-treasurer; and Ray Tucker and R. Dodie Evans, directors.

The Gravette team walked off with first place in the state Daisy air rifle tournament held in Rogers. Linda Bayley of Gravette was top shooter in the state. Other team members were Bobby Plumlee, Larry Burrow, Jody Fair and Dale Allen. Members of the junior team were SkipperHeller, Tim Hutchinson, Kay Terhune, Beverly Wilkerson and Janice Hodges.

A campaign was underway to reduce the legal voting age from 21 to 18.

Wilkerson Lumber Co. advertised Sanitone latex wall paint for $5.25 per gallon.

Many Gravette phone numbers were to change May 15 when newly installed dial equipment was to be switched into service. Southwestern Bell said, “Throw Away Your Old Directory”.
