Academic Awards Students awarded for academic excellence

— High school students were presented with academic awards and scholarships during a ceremony on Monday night.

Following is a list of awards and scholarships presented to graduating seniors. Teachers also presented academic awards to students in grades nine through 12 during the ceremony, but a complete list was not made available to the Decatur Herald by press time.

National Honor Society Medals were presented to Theresa Clements, Arthur Lor, Zoua Lee, Jessie Lee, and Erick Aguirre. The Jim Frisen Youth Excellence Award was presented to Maria Ragalado.

Arkansas Scholars Erick Aguirre, Zoua Lee, Theresa Clements, Jessie Lee, Ashlie Garrett and Arthur Lor were also named.

Scholarships were awarded to the following students:

◊Hunter Beal received $20,000 from Westminster College, $500from the Decatur State Bank, $500 from the Decatur Alumni Association, $200 from the Decatur Booster Club, $100 from the Decatur Medi Clinic.

◊Trevor Meek received $600 from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, $500 from the Decatur State Bank, $300 from Greenlawn Farms, $500 from Decatur Alumni Association, and $200 from the Decatur Booster Club.

◊Zoua Lee received $1,800 from the Northwest Arkansas Community College, $500 from the Decatur Education Foundation, $250 from the Decatur Chamber of Commerce and $200 from the Decatur FBLA.

◊Theresa Clements received $500 from Carroll Electric, $250 from the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, and $500 from theDecatur Education Foundation.

◊Matt Rumple received $500 from the Decatur Alumni Association.

◊Tiffany Wright received $200 from the FCCLA, and $200 from the FBLA.

◊Jessi Lee received $500 fromthe Decatur Education Foundation.

◊Arthur Lor received $500 from the Decatur Education Foundation.

◊Gold Vang received $500 from the Decatur Education Foundation.

◊Erick Aguirre received $500 from the Decatur Education Foundation.

◊Shelby Ellison received $100 from the Decatur Education Association.

◊Austin Migliori received $1,900 from Northwest Technical Institute.

◊Kimmy Nelson received $200 from the Decatur Booster Club.

◊Chelsie Woodall received $200 from the Decatur Booster Club.

◊Theresa Clements, Arthur Lor, Jessie Lee, Hunter Beal, Zoua Lee, Erick Aguirre, GoldVang, Matt Rumple, Jessica Corbin, Ashley Nugent, Cassie Carlson, and Kimmy Nelson will all receive between $2,500 and $5,000 a year for meeting the curriculum requirements of the Arkansas Academic Challenge.
