DECA Students Attend, Win Awards At MSSU Competition

— Students from DECA (an Association of Marketing Students) from Gravette High School attended the high school business competitions at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin recently.

Bob Johnson, sponsor of the event, said each student competed in two events that included business math, general business, computer technology, accounting, business math, international business, free enterprise public speaker or marketing.

Quincy Curtis and Zack Heald placed first in Free Enterprise Public Speaking competition. They had given their presentations to different clubsor classes at the high school before competing. “Both Curtis and Heald invested a lot of time into winning their award,” Johnson said.

DECA students who attended the event also toured the business and marketing departments at MSSU as well as other campus areas.

Students were: Quincy Curtis, Hailey Morrison, Chelsea Porter, Amy Lee, Jenna Brown, Jamie Wolfinbarger; Zack Heald, Seth Rutherford, Julia Himsl, Chelsee LaBrecque, Samantha VanOtterloo, Chad Houtchens, Ricky Wolfinbarger, Amy Riles.
