GRAVETTE — Gravette’s 2010 graduating seniors will participate in the annual “Rite of Commencement” Saturday morning at Lion Stadium when the pomp and ceremony will mark the end of their local high school experience.
The 10 o’clock ceremony will begin with the long march of seniors to their places of honor at midfield as family and friends fill the east side stadium seats.
There are 114 members in the Class of 2010.
Gravette does not name valedictorians/salutatorians. Honor graduates are:
Distinguished High Honors: Colton Moorman.
High Honors: Makayla Morrison, Taylor McCaffrey, Jacy Alsup, Jesse Owens, Tajhe Turner, Mackenzie Wallace, Nick Hendren, Kayleigh Duncan, Jessica Springer.
Honors: Sarah Malone, Shelby Thomason, Brittany Dewitt.
The ceremony will be relatively brief. See the official program printed in the special insert in this week’s News Herald. There will be no guest speaker.
Honor graduates will fill the major parts of the program beginning with the Invocation including thePresentation of Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, Dedication of Flowers, Farewell Remarks and Benediction, as well as comments from class members.
Gravette High School band will present the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” procession, The National Anthem and a farewell class march.
The highlight for students will be presentation of candidates by principal Jo Ellen Hastings and presentation of diplomas by Mr. John Edwards, board president, and Dr. Andrea Kelly, superintendent. Dr.
Kelly will also make opening remarks.
Baccalaureate
On Friday evening at 7 p.m. the traditional baccalaureate program will be held with Gravette graduate and pastor Jheri Roberts giving the baccalaureate address. The event will be held in the Performing Arts Center.
Mrs. Rachel Galloway will present the processional and recessional; there will be congregational singing and program activities conducted by honor graduates.
A highlight of the evening will be a “Senior Memories” show created by the GHS East lab.
