Runoffs June 8 For Senate, Judge, and JP Positions

— Gravette voters will return to the polls Tuesday, June 8, in a runoff election involving races for U. S. Senate, Benton County Judge and District 11 Justice of Peace.

In the Senate race, incumbent Blanche Lincoln and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter square off for the Democrat party nomination.

Cong. John Boozman clinched the Republican nomination for that position in a field of eight candidates.

In the race for County Judge incumbent Dave Bisbee and Bob Clinard vie for the Republican nomination. Sheriff Keith Ferguson won the contested race for that position by defeating Kelly Cradduck.

In the Justice of Peace race for the northwest Benton County area, Nathan Florer faces Curtis “Steve” Curry for that position.

Poor Turnout

Of the 103,153 registered voters in Benton County only 29,075, a dismal 28.9%, cast ballots in the election. Of these, 22,859 were Republican, 6,128 Democrat and 88 non-partisan.

Listed below are vote totals in the various races in Benton County, excluding most statewide and judicial races. Gravette, Sulphur Springs and Maysville totals appear elsewhere in this issue.

County Judge: Stepehenson, 5,146; Henderson, 4,006; Bisbee, 5,796; Clinard, 6,128.

Sheriff: Cradduck, 10,239; Ferguson, 11,992.

Justice Peace, Dist. 11: Florer, 453; Curry, 448; Wallace, 211.

County Democrat
