Miss Gerre Poat, RN at the Gravette Medical Center, will represent Gravette in the Decatur beauty pageant.

Mrs. Gilbert Studyvin will represent Gravette in the cooking contest.

Besides Robert Virden, valedictorian, and Jerry Miley, salutatorian, honor graduates were Cecil Garman and Jeannette Roberts. Their pictures were on page 1.

Some form of public assistance went to 73,160 persons or 4.2 percent of Arkansas’ population during the month of April.

Mrs. Condrey Swindell wrote, “A large crowd attended the Memorial Day Service at the Mt. Pleasant Church.” Maude Evans wrote from Sulphur Springs: “Dodie Evans was in Siloam Springs Monday night where he was a judge in the Miss Siloam Beauty Pageant.” Rita DeShazer and Barbara Lynn will represent Sulphur at Girls State and Arlie Burge will attend Boys State, according to the American Legion and Auxiliary.
