Council approves inspection fee ordinance

GRAVETTE - Gravette City Council on Thursday approved, on three readings, a new inspection fee ordinance which also repealed an ordinance enacted in 2007.

The new ordinance sets building permit fees, inspection fees, moving or demolition fees.

Also involved are permit and inspection fees for plumbing permits, electrical permits, mechanical permits, swimming pool permits and fencing permits.

Builders and homeowners are advised to checkwith the city hall for copies of the regulations and fees involved.

Sanitation Contract

The Council also approved a new contract with Roll Off Sanitation Service which will be in effect for a three-year period. No increases are involved in the monthly residential fees, which remain at $9.40 per month. Commercial fees are by contract with individual customers.

The contract also provides for twice a year collection of bulky items, a service the firm has been performing.

The Council formally approved the 5-mill property-tax levy which had been approved in a committee meeting, okayed rezoning of property at the intersection of Highway 59 and Akron Street N.E. for a coffee shop and adjusted the November Council meeting to Nov. 18 and the December meeting to Dec. 16.

The Council postponed action on an animal control ordinance for referral to a Council Committee of the Whole meeting.

The Council also heard a lengthy discussion by Jim Ulmer, engineer with McGoodwin, Williams andYates, involving the city wastewater treatment project, including financing possibilities. That issue will also be addressed at a later meeting.
