Editor,

Glenn Duffy Elementary in Gravette would like to say thank you to all the parents and guardians that were able to attend parent/teacher conferences on October 5. According to teacher reports, 99 percent of students were represented.

Teachers will continue to schedule conferences with Glenn Duffy parents who have not yet visited their children. To schedule a new appointment, send a note with your child to the teacher or call the school office.

By proclamation of Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, October is Parental Involvement Month. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents or guardians for being so involved with school. Not only doyou support your children but you also support your teachers.

These are recognized as important ways to help improve school performance and student achievement at Glenn Duffy. One way to show your children that you support the school is by volunteering either at school or from home. You are welcome to contact your child’s teacher or me, the parental involvement coordinator, for different types of opportunities to be more involved with the school. I can be reached by calling the school office at 787-4120.

Faith Hendricks Media Specialist Editor,

Many, many parents attended parent-teacherconference day at Gravette Upper Elementary. In fact, 99.6 percent of the total student population had parents who were contacted. Good communication between a parent and the teacher is essential for any child’s success in school.

Recent studies document that the more actively involved a parent is in his or her child’s school life, the more the child succeeds.

At Gravette Upper Elementary, our goal is to have parents and teachers who work together as a team to do what is best for the students. We wish to extend a huge “thank you” to all the parents who make this day a success!
