GENTRY — Police were notified of a caller who was raising money and used the name of the Gentry Police Department.

Upon investigation, the person was raising money for the Arkansas Fraternal order of Police, Gentry Police Chief Keith Smith said Monday.

Smith said the organization is legitimate but that it is not in any way associated with the Gentry Police Department.

Smith cautioned residents to use discretion in responding to anyone soliciting funds.
