Although not a large number of veterans attended the special assembly at the Gravette High School Performing Arts Center, they were recognized by an enthusiastic crowd of students who gave them a several minute standing ovation at the conclusion of the program.

Among activities during the hour-long program were the Presentation of the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, a Moment of Silence and Reading of the President’s Veterans Day Proclamation.

Mr. Jason Porter welcomed the veterans at the opening of the ceremonies and provided closing remarks and directed Retiring of the Colors by members of the Boy Scout Troop.

The GHS band, directed by Mr. Mike Johnson, played the Star Spangled Banner as well as a rousing rendition of the popular “On Parade.” A solemn “Taps” by Adrian Holland and Jessica Price brought moisture to the eyes of many who attended.
