— Chili Supper

Gentry Masonic Lodge 222 will be having its annual chili supper on Friday, Nov. 19, to raise funds for the Lodge Scholarship Fund. Chili with homemade desserts will be served from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available from lodge members and at the door. Food Box Giveaway

Decatur Assembly of God Church will be handing out food boxes this Saturday, Nov. 20. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church, located at 730 North Main in Decatur. For information, call 640-7516.

Dessert Auction

The Sulphur Springs Special Events Committee is holding a dessert auction at 3 p.m., Nov. 24, in the old school gym. All proceeds will go toward providing for needy children during Christmas. This is the fifth year the auction has been held. Dwayne Craig will serve as the auctioneer. For more information, call 298-3033.

Girl Scout Food Drive

Gravette Girl Scout Troop 5497 is holding a food drive for the Feed My Sheep food pantry from now through Nov. 21. Drop boxes for nonperishable food items will be placed at the Ozarks Community Hospital, the Gravette OCH Clinic and First Christian Church in Gravette. On Saturday, Nov. 20, members of the Girl Scout Troop will be at Marvin’s from 9 a.m. until noon to collect food items.

Maysville Food Baskets

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church is preparing food baskets available for the holidays. To reserve one, please call 787-6510 by Friday, Dec. 3. If no answer, leave message. The baskets will be available for pick up on Sunday, Dec. 19, between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. at the church, located north of Maysville on Highway 43.

Clothing Giveaway

First Baptist Church in Hiwasse will have a free clothing giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the church, located at the intersection of Highway 72 and 279 North. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be prizes and surprises.

Christmas Bazaar

The Decatur United Methodist Church will host its annual Christmas Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 3. Soup and sandwiches will be served. Canned food items may be brought to support the church’s food pantry and to receive a free dessert. There will be craft booths, a gift galore area and bake sale. All proceeds go to local charities. Gravette Christmas Parade

The Gravette Christmas Parade will be held at noon on Dec. 11. The parade line up starts at 11:30 a.m. on Charlotte Street. There will be free pictures with Santa and sweet treats following the parade at theBank of Gravett. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Decatur Christmas Parade

The Decatur Christmas Parade will be held at 6 p.m., Dec. 10, with a theme of “A Country Christmas.” Lineup will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the city hall. School or non-profit organizations will be awarded $200 for the best float and $100 for second place. After the parade, children can visit Santa and Mrs. Santa in the Decatur Fire Station for free pictures. The Decatur General Store will be open late to provide shelter from the cold and refreshments as part of a customer appreciation night.

Gentry Christmas Parade

The Gentry Christmas Parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11, with a theme of “A Storybook Christmas.” The parade will begin at Curran Feed Store and travel west down Main Street. Santa will be visiting with children from 3 to 6 p.m., on Dec. 11, in the Gentry Chamber of Commerce lobby. Photos with Santa are encouraged if parents wish to bring their own cameras.

Home Decorating Contest

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce is holding a Christmas light decorating contest and will be awarding prize money to the top two homes. Homes within Decatur city limits will be judged the week of Dec. 10. The first-place home will be awarded $50 in “Decatur dollars” to be spent at any Decatur business. The second-place home will be awarded $25 in “Decatur dollars.” Parent Volunteer Training

Gravette Library Fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Gravette Public Library will be held Friday, Nov. 19. A Schwan’s truck will be parked at Centennial Park with its products, beginning at 10 a.m. Proceeds from sales will be used to buy books for adults and children and to purchase current movies and help with programs for next year.

Gravette Spaghetti Dinner

The Gravette Middle School Ambassadors and Student of the Month group will sponsor a spaghetti dinner Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Gravette Civic Center. A silent auction will also be held. The students are raising funds for a summer educational trip to New York City. The dinner will include sides, dessert and drink for $6. Advance tickets are available but are not required. Genealogical Society

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22, at the Bentonville Public Library, located at 405 South Main. Society members Nancy Feroe and Cary Anderson will present a program covering what the Benton County Archives have to offer and what records are located in which courthouse or annex. They will also talk about the records the society has at the library andthe new additions to the collection at the library. Anyone interested in researching family history is welcome. Quilt Class Canceled

The quilt class planned for this Saturday at the Gravette Church of Christ has been canceled. Announcement of the December meeting will be made when plans are finalized.

Jolly Good Times Club

The November meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club will be held this Thursday, Nov. 18, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the computer room at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Susan Holland will give the program. Members will then join the Center residents for the annual Thanksgiving dinner.

Old Computers Needed

The Gentry Lions Club is collecting and refurbishing older computers and giving them to students in need of a computer. Older computers - up to about 10 years old - are being accepted. Hard drives are reformatted and a lighter Linux-based operating system and programs are installed. Recycling Saturday

Roll-Off Sanitation Service recycling trailer will be at Centennial Park in Gravette this Saturday, Nov. 20, according to Mayor Bill Howard. Thefirm apologizes for the inconvenience caused by postponing the regular visit on Nov. 6.

Thanksgiving break

Decatur Schools will be closed for Thanksgiving break on Nov. 24, 25 and 26.

Gentry Limb Pickup Day

A curb-side limb pickup with Gentry’s city limits has been set for one day only on Dec. 6. Limbs must be placed curb-side and not left in the alley. The contracted service will make one pass only, so limbs must be curb-side prior to the pickup.

Decatur School Board

The Decatur School Board meets at 6 p.m., on the third Monday each month, in the professional development room of the former middle school building next to the high school cafeteria.

Decatur City Council

Decatur City Council meetings are held at 6 p.m., the second Monday of the month, in the city council room. For more information, call 752-3912.

Gravette City Council meetings are held at 7 p.m. every fourth Thursday of each month in the Gravette Civic Center, 401 Charlotte Street SE. Committee of the Whole departmental meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. every second Thursday of the month at City Hall, 604 First Ave. SE. Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur Food Pantry is open from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The pantry offers free food to Decatur residents. The pantry is located inside the United Methodist Church in Decatur. Participants need to bring identification and a current utility bill in their name with a Decatur address. For more information, contact 752-3551.

Gravette Public Library

Gravette’s Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is Internet equipped and has an extensive children’s section. Past copies of The Gravette News Herald, dating to 1894, are available on microfilm for genealogical research.

Gentry City Council

The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6:30 p.m., the first Monday of each month. The Gentry Planning and Zoning Commission meets in city hall at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

Gentry School Board

The Gentry School Board holds regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the school district board room.

Springtown Council

The Springtown Council meets at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, in the new community building.
