DECATUR - Steven Engleman, 47, is on the run after assaulting a woman with a knife on Wednesday evening.

Engleman was riding in a car driven by an unnamed female victim down Arkansas Highway 59, when he allegedly reached over the seat and cut the woman’s throat, according to Doug Gay, public information officer for the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

The car stopped at E-Z Mart in Decatur and Engleman fled on foot. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening, according to Gay. She was transported to a local hospital where she received five stitches and was released.

Engleman was believed to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident, but not drugs.

Gay said that Engleman is armed with a knife and considered to be dangerous. He is described as being a white male, almost bald and about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with a thin build.

He may have been headed to Oklahoma, where he has family, according to Gay.

Anyone with information about Engleman’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 271-1008.
