School makes plans for spirit week

— A full week of festivities are planned to pump up school spirit for Decatur’s first homecoming game since 2008.

The Bulldogs will play Western Yell County on Friday night and kick-off is set for 7 p.m.

The week will begin with daily individual and class competitions which will culminate during the pep rally on Friday. Individuals will be awarded for the most creative costumes and classes will be awarded for having the most participants.

Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was twin day, Wednesday is nerd or geek day, Thursday is crazy hair or crazy hat day and Friday is blue andgold day. On Friday the competition will continue with fun games during the pep rally.

Parents and community members are also invited to get involved in the school spirit. A bonfire will be held at 8 p.m., Wednesday, in the high school parking lot and a pep rally will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, in the high school football field, weather permitting.

On Friday evening, coronation will be held at 6:30 p.m., in the football field, followed by the game at 7 p.m. A dance for students in grades 9 through 12 will be held after the game. There will be a $2 charge for Decatur High School students bringing guests to the dance.
