Schools holding flu shot clinics

— Flu shot day for children in Gravette and Decatur Public Schools has been announced and parent information is being sent home with each child sometime this week, according to school nurses Karen Kerr and Jackie Eaton.

Signed permission forms must be submitted by parents for their children to receive the shots.

Kerr said the vaccines will be administered at the Gravette elementary and middle school grades on November 8 and 9 and in the high school on November 9.

Vaccines will be administered in both the Decatur elementary and high school on Oct. 18.

The one-time shot contains vaccine not only against the H1N1 (Swine Flu) strain but also the regular/traditional flu strain.

Benton County health officials as well as staff members from the Ozarks Community Hospital/ Clinic and student volunteers will assist the school nurses in the project.

Parents who have questions or who have not received a form from the school may contact their child’s building principal for information or a form which must be completed, Kerr said.
