— Gravette Upper Elementary School is observing “Red Ribbon Week” this week, October 25 - 30, according to Jaymey Boston, GUE Counselor.

There will be special activities each day to emphasize the dangers of drugs and urging children to “Be A Superhero - Have the Power to Say NO to Drugs”.

A special activity will be an assembly Wednesday at 1:30 when “Omega-Man” and friends, who are world class athletes, will perform in an anti-drug related program, the counselor said.

On Monday students wore red; on Tuesday children were encouraged to wear a tie dye shirt. Wednesday the emphasis is “Be all you can be, drug free” by wearing camouflage or gray/green and on Thursday kids should keeptheir head in the game by wearing a favorite team shirt and cap.

Finally, Boston said, reverting to Lion power, kids should wear orange and black since “Lions aretoo smart to start” using drugs.

Newsletters were sent home with children to alert parents to the importance of teaching their children about drugs.
