MAYSVILLE - Voters in and around the oldest community in Benton County - Maysville - will not be able to cast ballots in next Tuesday’s General Election at the location that has served them for more than a hundred years.

Maysville voters will be required to vote at the Gravette Civic Center. Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

They may also vote early, until next Monday,by driving to a County Clerk’s office in Bentonville or Siloam Springs.

Maysville, which is arguably the oldest town in Benton County, predated the formation of the state of Arkansas which occurred in 1836.

A one-time thriving community on the Arkansas-Oklahoma border, Maysville was probably the first trading post site in Benton County and was a border town with the Indian Territory. Its business houses reportedly had entrances on both sides of the border.
