WESTSIDE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Editor,

We have again had men from the Benton County inmate work program helping us in Sulphur Springs. They were here to powerwash, prime and paint our City Hall complex. They did a fantastic job - our buildings look beautiful.

Our thanks go to Sheriff Ferguson and deputies Charles Hodges and David Donahue for allowing and arranging for their men to help us.

Also thanks to J. C. Huntsman, Harvey Lopez, Alan Waldrip, Barbara Wasman, Maurine Styles and Vera Moorman for their help with supervising the men and preparing and serving the snacks and lunches.

Thank you all so very much.

Editor,

We are writing to urge Gravette voters to please Vote No on the forced annexation. We do not wish to have our property annexed into the city limits.

Dear Readers,

This is an e-mail that I sent to all that I had addresses for, so now I will put a letter in the newspaper. I would like to ask all who live in the city limits of Gravette to help to keep us, and people like us, who do not want to be annexed into the city out. I ask you to vote no on the annexation, come Nov. 2nd.

This has already been put on the ballot. We never got any paperwork on this. Some folks did, some didn’t. So, to stop it now we have to ask for help from voters inside the city limits. So please vote no on Nov. 2nd and please help spread the word. We do not want to be in the city limits of Gravette.

Thank You.

Editor,

I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors flying around surrounding the various elections coming up in Gentry. I’ve heard that some candidates are making promises while other candidates are making threats. Of course, you never really know whosaid what unless you ask them face to face.

I think we should challenge the candidates to a debate. This debate could be in an open forum where Gentry citizens can step up, one at a time, and ask the candidate of their choice a question.

The high school auditorium would be a perfect place for such a debate. You could split this up into three “mini-debates” that will all take place the same night. We could start out with the various city council elections. Have all eight alderman candidates on stage first. Then when they are finished, the city clerk candidates can walk out for their turn. We could finish it off with the mayoral candidates. I would suggest asking someone with political experience, or at least knowledge of debates, to organize and run this event, for example, a past mayor or city council member or maybe even a newspaper editor.
