Employees to take Municipal League class

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

— The Arkansas Municipal League will soon conduct a class on employment discrimination for the City of Gravette and its employees, according to Bill Howard, Mayor.

Date of the class has not been announced, the Mayor said, but is the result of a charge of violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

The class will provide the city and its employees information on various subjects, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, equal opportunity employment and unlawful discrimination and harassment.

Information provided on the notification to the city involves alleged sex discrimination that occurred earlier this year.

According to Kenneth Collins of the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission office in Little Rock, “The commissionstaff is working to complete the formal writing of the charge” and a copy will be mailed to the city.
