Schools announce first week enrollment numbers

Gravette

Gravette schools showed a slight increase in enrollment at the start of school this year, according to information from the administrative office.

Enrollment, pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 and the Lion Academy totaled 1,880. This compared with 1,873 at school opening last year, when enrollment jumped almost 100 students.

Enrollment by grade as of Monday of this week is as follows:

Glenn Duffy Elementary: Pre-kindergarten - 56; Kindergarten - 130; First Grade - 134; Second Grade - 121; Total - 441.

Gravette Upper Elementary: Third Grade - 134; Fourth Grade - 136; Fifth Grade - 158; Total - 428.

Gravette Middle School: Sixth Grade - 149; Seventh Grade - 165; Eighth Grade - 156; Total - 470.

Gravette High School: Ninth Grade - 149, Tenth Grade - 129; Eleventh Grade - 128; Twelfth Grade - 109; Total - 515.

Lion Pride Academy: 26.

Decatur

Decatur schools also showed a slight increase in enrollment from the end of the last school last year. On Monday, 480 students were counted in grades kindergarten through 12, superintendent Larry Ben said. The district ended the last school year with about 465 students and the three-quarter average for the 2009-2010 school year was 485 students, Ben said.

Gentry

Gentry schools showed stable enrollment numbers. According to first day of school counts there were 400 students in the high school, 351 in the middle school, 368 in the intermediate school and 302 in the primary school for a total of 1,421.
