Hay Daze set

— Hay Daze is just over a week away in the Town of Highfill, with the annual community celebration set for Saturday, Sept. 18, in the town’s park.

In addition to music and food, the festival’s events include:

◊Silent auction from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.;

◊Car show beginning at 10 a.m.;

◊Horseshoe competition beginning at noon;

◊Dog Show starting at 1 p.m.;

◊Miss Highfill Pageant at 2 p.m.;

◊Tiny Tot Pageant at 3 p.m.;

◊Battle of the Bands all day; and

◊Firework show at dusk.

The Highfill Fire department will also be conducting a fire safety presentation which will include a burning building simulator to educate children and adults about fire safety, home evacuation and general fire plans should a fire break out in their home. The special presentation is designed to educate and save lives.

Anyone interested in setting up a booth at the festival or entering the Battle of the Bands is asked to contact Jeremiah Jech at 238-4052.
