Lockhart wins grand champ at poultry show

— Joshua Lockhart of Gravette, a member of Town and Country 4-H Club, took Grand Champion honors at the recent Benton County 4-H Pullet Show held at the Benton County Fairgrounds.

The Reserve Champion award went to Jessica Romines, Cave Springs 4-H’er, and Lauren Leonard from Town and Country took third place. Thirty-one entries in the competition were judged by Dr. Susan Watkins, Extension Poultry Specialist from the UofA Poultry Science Department.

Cash prizes, $100 to Lockhart; $60 to Romines and $40 to Leonard, were provided by KURM. Premium prize bids were by Dr.

Kent Leonard, Adams Cattle Company and Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co.and were part of the $5,425 premium awards by other sponsors: Bank of Gravett, Benton County Farm Bureau, Cave Springs Buyers Group, Centerton Livestock Auction, Dan Yates, Attorney, Decatur State Bank, Farm Credit Services, Farmers Supply & Services, First Community Bank of Jane, Gravette Kiwanis Club, Serve-Pro of Benton County, Rick True Excavation and Dr. Mia Winters.
