— Members of the Jolly Good Times Club recently made a donation of $50 to benefit the Gravette city animal shelter.

The club’s donation kicks off a fundraising campaign to help finance some special projects at the shelter. The city budget pays for feed and water for the animals confined at the shelter, but there are no funds for “extras.”

Penny Barry, with the Gravette Police Department, is in charge of the adoption process and has worked diligently to find homes for the shelter “inmates.” She hopes to raise money for some chainlink fencing so shelter animals can spend more time outdoors. An other project is to heat the shelter building before winter.

Someone will be at Marvin’s IGA and at both Gravette banks in coming days to collect do nations. Donations can also be made at the police department, at City Hall and at Countryside Animal Clinic.

For more information, call Barry at 787-5911.
