Police investigate accident

— Alicia Mejia, 29, of Decatur, was cited for driving without a license or insurance after an alleged hit-and-run accident on Aug. 20.

The green mini-van Mejia was driving collided with Samantha Ennis’ vehicle on Hidden Springs Drive. There were no injuries, according to the police report.

Ennis told police the green van was speeding and traveling in her lane when the accident occurred. Ennis said that Mejia slowed but then continued to drive off after the accident, the report stated.

Police located the headlight assembly from the green van on the pavement and found green paint transfer on Ennis’ vehicle.

Police found a green van, matching the description, with body damage parked in the yard at 352 Grant Springs Drive.

When police questioned Mejia, she said that Ennis was traveling in her lane and appeared to be texting at the time of the accident.

Ennis denied texting and said she was putting her phone in her pocket.

Since both drivers claimed the other was in the wrong lane of travel, police were unable to determine who was at fault.

Mejia was cited for no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.
