Erna Bontke

Erna Alice Prescher Bontke, 89, of Jane, Mo., died Aug.

30, 2010, at her home.

She was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Abilene, Texas, to Otto A.

and Ella Schimel Prescher. She married Leon C. Bontke on Aug. 1, 1938, in Abilene. They farmed in Abilene and Kress, Texas, until 1965. She then moved with her family to Jane and worked at Wendt-Sonis for a number of years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon C. Bontke.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Bontke and Pattie of Mansfield, Texas, and Robert Bontke and Brenda of Gravette, Ark.; two daughters and son-inlaws, Alice Gottfried and Dean of Bella Vista, and Marie Anderson and Bill of Jane; nine grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 3 at Grace Lutheran Church in Lowell. Burial was at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers.

Helen Roena Hickman

Helen Roena Hickman of Rogers, died Sept. 2, 2010, in Bentonville.

She was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Gravette, to the late George H. and Eva Mae True Sooter. She was a homemaker and a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Rogers. She moved to Rogers in 1999 from Minden, La.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Tandy Hickman; two brothers, Russell and Alden Sooter; and a sister, Iva Sooter.

She is survived by a son, William Otha Hickman of Woden, Texas; two daughters, Virginia H. McCabe of Bella Vista and Anna Marie Faris of New Market, Va.;

four sisters, Reba Murphy of Rogers, Vivian Dean of Pea Ridge, Louise Riley and her husband, Roy, of Rogers, Alma Brown of Rogers; a brother, Donald Sooter and his wife, Thelma, of Rogers; eight grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at Colonial Baptist Church on Sept. 6, with Claude Slate officiating. Graveside services will take place at the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Minden, La., at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, officiated by Leland Crawford.

Services are under the direction of Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.
