Polls will be closed in Gravette next Tuesday

— Voters in Gravette School District 20 will not be going to the polls next Tuesday in the annual state-wide school election.

Because no millage change is being requested and because the lone candidate for election to a school board position is unopposed the board opted that polling places not be opened.

Dan Yates is unopposed for re-election to a five year term on the board, and the current 37.2 millage rate remains unchanged.

Not opening the five polling places in Gravette, Sulphur Springs, Maysville, Hiwasse and Bella Vista, the district will possibly save $5,000 or more, the election's normal cost.

Because state law requires an election must be held persons who do wish to vote may do so at the County Clerk’s office in Bentonville during normal office hours.
