MT. PLEASANT NEWS

On Saturday several members of Mt. Pleasant Church participated in the Walk For Life. Those walking Saturday morning were Gaylene Hall, Darlene and Louise McVay and Linda Sanders. Saturday afternoon those walking were Cathleen Spears, Margaret Martin, Mary Jo Lastovica, Brother Ernest Lastovica and John Philliber. Thanks to all for a good turnout.

Saturday morning John Philliber, Howard Spears, Butch Hall and Jeremy Hall met at the church to put the roof on the small addition to the east door. It really looks good. Thanks, guys, for a job well done.

We had our monthly fellowship dinner Saturday evening. Lots of good food and fellowship. I don’t believe anyone went hungry.

Betty Pollreis and Lou Smith spent the weekend in Texas visiting with Lou’s brother. They went to help him celebrate his 80th birthday.

Gabra Stewart was gracious enough to stand inas our pianist on Sunday in Betty’s absence. Thanks, Gabra. Always a pleasure to have you play for us and just to be with us. Come again anytime.

Friends and family of Gladys Gatton, mark your calendar for Sunday, October 3. We are going to take this day to celebrate Gladys’ birthday. We will have lunch at the church after morning services and a drop in from 2 to 4. Come by and eat lunch or just come for fellowship at 2. If you have some stories to tell, sit with us a while and tell us about our wonderful friend. Gladys would enjoy lots of cards.

Alan, Darlene, Louise and I got to spend some time with my son, Daniel McVay, and his family over the holiday weekend. We had a good visit but my heart was broken because Austyn wanted to come home with me and the girls. Some day. . . .

I hope everyone has a great week. Stay cool as I heard it was to get hot again for a few days. Arkansas weather, isn’t it wonderful?

God bless.
