— Glenn Duffy Elementary School has announced Positive and Wise Students (PAWS) for the month of September, according to Principal Zane Vanderpool.

They are, left to right, Hayden Cook of Gravette, Holly Robinson of Gravette, Reece Hamilton of Hiwasse, Ryleigh Craig of Gravette and Jake Carver of Hiwasse. Kierstyn Pharris of Gravette was absent at the time of the photo, provided by the school.

“The PAWS program incorporates character education into the school community,” Vanderpool explained.

Each month a PAWS skill is chosen and discussed in classroom guidance in relation to character education. The word for September is “Responsibility” and PAWS awards are given in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria and around the school as an incentive for students to practice the “responsibility” skill for the month.

Students are recognized at Rise and Shine assemblies and awarded T-shirts by the Glenn Duffy Parent-Teacher Organization.
