— The Maysville Extension Club met Sept. 23 at the Community Center. Twelve members and three guests were present. The visitors were Jean Catlett, Barbara West and Meral Ford. We enjoyed a good dinner hosted by Orpha Wardlaw.

The one o’clock meeting was called to order by President Orpha. We sang a song, “When the Saints Go Marching In”, and pledged allegiance to the U. S. flag. Jewel Lukens read a poem entitled “Be Careful What You Say”.

Barbara helped Orpha demonstrate a T-shirt quilt. It was so pretty. Jewel Crawley gave an eye-opener: Put a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of an ice cream cone to prevent it from melting so fast.

Roll call was answered by giving your favorite dish cooked in a crock pot.

Katherine read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer’s report. Sylvia Tucker reported on the uses of the

building. Someone had used the kitchen and did not clean it up.

Our booth at the Benton County Fair received a blue ribbon. It was entitled “What’s in Your Pantry?”. Bert Ballmann reported on the Fun Day being held each first and third Thursday. Several people are enjoying the dinners and the visiting.

Plans were made for our annual fundraiser to be held here on Saturday evening, Oct. 16. We will serve the beans and cornbread supper beginning at 5 o’clock for a donation. The cake walk and sale of pies and cakes will start around 6 p.m.

Instead of a pie auction each one will be priced and you choose your choice for the price on it. If anyone wants to donate pies, cakes, etc., please bring them along with your price on them. The proceeds help pay the expenses and upkeep of the community building.

Mary Crawley drew the quarter package furnished by Orpha.

Gwen Singleton will host the October 28 meeting in her home.
