Farmers' Market to open on Saturday

— Gravette’s Farmers Market will open for the season this Saturday, April 9, when it sets up shop in Old Town Park. Hours will be from 8 a.m. until noon each Saturday throughout the summer, according to information from Allyson Ransom, market manager.

“There is still time toparticipate,” Ransom said. A registration form with regulations can be secured at Gravette City Hall and if vendors are not yet ready to join the market but plan to later, they may register early, she added.

“There is no fee to join but vendors pay 10 percent of market sales at the end of each day with a minimum of $25.”

Briefly, the rules state all items should be grown orproduced within a 60-mile radius of Gravette. With prior approval, fruit and berries from local farms may be sold if posted with a sign stating where it is grown.

Processed foods (some baked goods, jams, jellies or candies) must have prior approval as per Arkansas Act 72.

No animals of any kind may be offered for sale, displayed or given away onthe site during the event.

WIC applications and Senior Nutrition Voucher program applications are available.

Nonprofit civic groups with non-market items may request permission to set up once during the season to promote their organization at no charge.
