Gravette boys have runaway win

— Gravette’s Middle School boys literally ran away with the Junior High Invitational Track meet held last week in Gravettte.

The Lions topped the meet with 143.5 points. Siloam Springs was a distant second. Gentry’s Pioneers totaled 48 points; the Decatur Bulldogs had 25.

In the women’s division, Green Forest took top honors with 93.8 points. Gravette had 52.5; Gentry 34 and Decatur 32.33. Fifteen teams participated.

Lavonte Jackson of Gravette took first place in the 100 with a time of 12.45; in the 200, with 24.90; and the 400 meter dash, with 56.84.Victor Urquidi of Decatur and Jason Summers of Gentry finished second in the 100; Logan Moore of Gravette and Victor Urquili, second and 6th in the 200; and Logan Moore fourth in the 400. Trey Kell of Decatur took second in the 200 and 1600 meter races. Sam Riester of Gravette was third in both events.

In the 110 hurdles, Cody Robinson of Gravette was second, with Alex Nelson of Gentry and Mario Urquidi of Decatur in the top 10.

Robinson finished third in the 300 hurdles; Jerred Cozens of Gentry sixth.

In relay competition, Pierce, Moore, Jackson and Robinson of Gravette finished first in the 4x200 and second in both the 4x100 and 4x800.Gentry was fourth in the 4x800; fifth in the 4x400, and seventh in the 4x100. Decatur was ninth in the 4x100.

Terence Pierce of Gravette took first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches; Mario Urquidi of Decatur was seventh.

Jerred Cozens of Gentry topped the field in the pole vault with a height of 9 feet, 6 inches; Urquidi of Decatur was third and Bulldog Terry Kell was eighth.

Lavonte Jackson of Gravette took first place in the long jump with 17 feet, 8 inches; Terence Pierce of Gravette was fifth and Jerred Cozens of Gentry eighth.

In the triple jump, Pierce was second; Cody Robins of Gravette fourth; John Brown of Gentry ninth and Cody Casebeer of Gentry 10th.

Pioneer Jerred Cozens was second in the shot put; Alex Nelson of Gentry seventh; and Michael Olvera of Gravette 10th.

Cozens also took first in the discus with a heave of 122 feet, 11 inches; Cody Robinson of Gravette was fourth.

Women’s Division

200 Meter dash: Bailey Bills of Gentry, fifth; and Peyton Scott of Gravette ninth.

400 Meter: Destiny Laymon of Gravette, fifth; and Amanda Barnes and Josie Barrick, both of Gentry, were ninth and 10th.

Mallory Morris of Gentry was fourth in the 800 meter run; Kylee of Davis, eighth.

Ella Duke of Gravette wasthe eighth place finisher in the 1600.

Lacy Barrett of Decatur was first in the 100 hurdles; Youa Vang, Decatur, seventh; Abbey Leonard of Gravette, eighth; and Nacoma Dunlap of Gentry ninth.

300 hurdles: Abbey Leonard was third and Lacy Barrett finished seventh.

In the 4x100, the team of Pierce, Scott, Galyean and Smith from Gravette finished second; Gentry took sixth and Gravette eighth in the 4x400. Gentry was fourth and Gravette fifth in the 4x800.

Kara Smith was a fourthplace finisher in the high jump; Sarah Smith of Decatur was eighth.

Samantha Ross of Gravette and Taylor Gay of Siloam tied for first in the pole vault with a vault of six foot, six inches.

Bailey Bills of Gentry was second in the long jump; Sarah Harris of Decatur was seventh.

In the triple jump, Kylee Davis was first; Youa Vang of Decatur fourth; Deryn Florer of Gentry fifth; Brittney Trost of Decatur sixth; and Sophie Porter of Gentry seventh.

Aubree Garrett of Gravette was ninth in the shot put and Lacy Barrett of Decatur, 10th.

Hannah Ramsey of Decatur was first in the discus with a toss of 74 feet, 4 inches. Aubree Garrett of Gravette was second; Jacklyn Hundley of Gentry sixth; and Lacey Newell of Gravette ninth.
