— Glenn Duffy Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization in Gravette has started “The Great April Penny War” and challenges everyone to participate in the benefit fund-raiser.

“In honor of our friend, Johnny “The Brave” Teis, we challenge you to a penny war,” said Principal Zane Vanderpool, speaking for the PTO. “All funds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”

Johnny, who is battling a brain tumor, has been the inspiration for students, faculty, the community and surrounding area and has become known as“Johnny The Brave.”

“Collect all those pennies you see around your house and on the ground and bring them to school. The pennies will be weighed at Rise and Shine on Monday, May 2,” Vanderpool said.

The class with the heaviest collection of pennies will win a Pizza Party provided by the PTO.

This project, though for students at Glenn Duffy, will welcome your support by contributing through a student, a class or just by giving to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which has provided care for many children in the area. Donations of any size will be welcomed and appreciated.
