Spending spring break at school can be fun

— Students at Glenn Duffy Elementary study outside while enjoying a sunny "spring break" day. Spring break was shortened by three days because of snow days, but students still had fun with creative lessons that placed an emphasis on preparing for the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.

A representative from Hobbs Conservation Area visited the school and discussed "The Lorax." He also showed skins of animals found in Northwest Arkansas.

Students were involved in special assignments that involved activities such as reading, writing and following recipes during the three days. They were also able to choose a story to read outdoors, said principal Zane Vanderpool. “The teachers would like to thank all parents and volunteers who assisted in helping make learning fun,” he added.
