Decatur Kindergarten Enrollment

Kindergarten enrollment at the Decatur Northside Elementary School will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., April 18. Children must turn 5 before Aug. 1 to be eligible. Parents are asked to bring a birth certificate, shot record, physical examination record and social security card. Kindergarten orientation for parents will be held after enrollment, from 4 to 5 p.m., April 18. For more information, call 752-3981.

GSAC Bake Sale

The Gentry Senior Activity Center is having a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at the Senior Center. There will be a variety of pies, cakes, cookies, bread and brownies. The donations will go towards the Senior Meal Program.

Cemetery Cleanup at Falling Springs

The annual cleanup day at Falling Springs Cemetery will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 16. Patrons of the cemetery are asked to bring tools and come to help. A cemetery board meeting will follow the cleanup activities.

Heritage Association Meeting

Easter at Harvest Baptist

Harvest Baptist Church in Gravette will hold morning services Easter Sunday to celebrate the risen Savior. Sunday school starts at 10 a.m. and church services begin at 11 a.m. An Easter drama will begin at 6:30 p.m. The church is located on Main Street, next to the Care and Share building. GSAC Spaghetti Dinner

The Gentry Senior Activity Center will hold an all-youcan-eat spaghetti dinner, with dessert, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the center. The fundraiser is to help support the Senior Meal Program. Tickets are a donation of $6 for adults and $3 for children under 6.

Decatur High School Prom

The Decatur High School Junior-Senior Prom will beheld at the Northside Elementary School Cafeteria from 8 p.m. to midnight on April 16. Graduation ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m., May 13, in the Lloyd Peterson Gymnasium.

Decatur Fire Dues

Decatur Rural Fire Dues are due May 1. Property owners living outside Decatur’s City Limits but inside the Decatur Fire Department’s response area are required to pay $40 per year for each dwelling on their property. If the dues are not paid, residents will be fined $500 for each fire call on their property. For more information, call 752-3912.

Diabetes and Obesity Education

Ozarks Community Hospital will hold a free diabetes and obesity education class at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in the OCH cafeteria. Kathy Smith will be instructor for the session, which is open to the public and without charge. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Reservations should be made by calling 344-6464 before April 15. Similar classes will be scheduled the third Tuesday of each month at the same time and location. Contact Smith at 344-6458 for information.

Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza

The Decatur Assembly of God Church will present its annual “Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza” at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23. There will be four age groups - ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 - and thousands of candies and eggs to hunt. Hundreds of prizes and several grand prizes will be given away. Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten Enrollment

Children who live in the Gravette School District and who will reach age 5 on or before Aug. 1 may be registered for kindergarten at Glenn Duffy Elementary School. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 25-29, to 6 p.m. on April 29, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday,April 30. Parents or guardians must provide proof of age for the child, the child’s social security number, his or her immunization record, evidence of a comprehensive and developmental physical and proof of residence. Parents should not fail to pre-register because their child needs a physical or current immunizations. Pre-kindergarten enrollment for children 4 years of age on or before Aug. 1, and whose family income does not exceed 200 percent of the poverty level, may also be completed at the above times. Relay for Life Fundraiser

A yard and bake sale and lemonade and coffee stand will be at the Gravette old gym parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. All proceeds will go to Relay For Life. Decatur Cleanup

Decatur’s annual spring cleanup will be held on April 14. Roll-off Inc. will pick up bulky trash, such as furniture, household appliances with CFCs removed, mattresses, large toys, or Christmas trees at the curb with their regular trash pickup.

Sulphur Springs Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Sulphur Springs Volunteer Fire Department, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the Sulphur Springs City Park. The fire department will also have hot dogs and hamburgers for sale. Sulphur Springs Special Events will be selling funnel cakes.

Sulphur Springs Spirit Night

The Sulphur Springs Special Events, Inc. invites everyone to dine at the Chick-fil-A on Walton Blvd. in Bentonville on Wed., April 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.For each one who dines at Chick-fil-A and puts their receipt into the specified box on the 27th, Chick-fil-A will return a portion of the money spent to Sulphur Springs Special Events to be used to benefit its scholarship fund.

Drug Take Back

The Gentry and Gravette Police Departments will hold another drug take-back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. Gentry's will be in the entryway to the city court room, next door to the police station, and Gravette's will be at the Gravette Police Department. Any unused or expired medication - prescription or nonprescription, solid or liquid - may be turned in for safe disposal. The program is part of a national prevention program to reduce drug abuse and to safely dispose of medications which might otherwise end up in streams, rivers and lakes.

Hot Roll Fundraiser

A Hot Roll for Easter fundraiser is being conducted by the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center in Gravette through April 15. Choice of white or wheat rolls may be ordered for $5 per dozen by calling 787-5950. Delivery is available to businesses within Gravette. All other orders may be picked up at the center, located at 1870 Limekiln Rd., between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, April 22.

Area Quilt Class

A free class for area quilters/crafters will be held Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. at the Gravette Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St. SW. Anyone interested is invited. Please bring projects in progress and a snack to share.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Gentry Easter Egg Hunt will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, in the Gentry City Park. There will be four age groups - ages 3 and under; ages 4-5; ages 6-8; and ages 9-10. The event is being hosted by the Gentry Chamber of Commerceand the Gentry High School National Honor Society.

Anyone interested is invited to an open house at the Gravette Public Library, 407 Charlotte St. SE, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16. Events of the day will include door prizes, refreshments, live music and library tours.

Gravette Citywide Yard Sale

Gravette Mayor Byron Warren has announced the citywide yard sale is scheduled Saturday, June 11. “No yard sale permits will be needed for sales held on that date,” according to the announcement. Persons who don’t regularly hold yard sales should make preparations. The more sales that are scheduled the more successful the event can be.

Fourth Saturday Singing

The Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 23050 Mt. Zion Road, holds a fourth Saturday singing each month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Jheri Roberts and the congregation invite the public to attend.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur on the first and third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gentry Band Yard Sale

Men's Fellowship Gathering

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering on the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. Each man is asked to bring a main dish or a side for dinner. The Care and Share annual meeting and potluck dinner will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church fellowship hall in Bella Vista. The public is invited. A mortgage payoff celebration will be held and plans for the future will be presented.

Families in Gravette School District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store.

Knitting/Crocheting

Busy Hands Knitting and Crochet Group holds meetings in Decatur the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Men and women of all ages are invited - children under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult. The group is emphasizing making items for charities. Free lessons are available. Computers Needed

The Gentry Lions Club is collecting and refurbishing computers and laptops and giving them to students in need of a computer. Computers and laptops - up to about 5 years old - are being accepted. Hard drives are reformatted and a lighter Linux-based operating system and programs are installed. Call Randy Moll at 233-0081.
