GENTRY — The Lady Pioneers took on the Gravette Lady Lions Tuesday at home in conference play. Early Lady Pioneer errors and a double by Lady Lion Nichols scored 3 runs for Gravette in the top of the first inning.
Despite a nice hit by Rindy Hudson, Gentry was held scoreless until the third inning when Suzanna Sikes singled and scored on a hard-driven doublehit by Sikora Ruiz for the only Lady Pioneer score of the game. Solid hits, including a three-run home run by Nichols secured the win for the Gravette Lady Lions 7 to 1. The junior varsity also lost 9-5 Gentry v. Prairie Grove
On Thursday, the Lady Pioneers hosted the Prairie Grove Lady Tigers in conference play. The Lady Tigers started strong with hits scoring one run in the first inning. Two hitsand a Lady Pioneer error brought across two more for the Lady Tigers in the second inning.
The Lady Pioneers went scoreless until the third, when Hudson and Ruiz both singled and scored on hits by Josie Graves and Jordan Olds.
In the bottom of the fifth, Hudson reached base on an error and scored on a two-run home run hit by Cloie Sikes.
The final score was Gentry 4, Prairie Grove 3.
