— Decatur PTO Meeting

The Decatur Northside Elementary School will hold a Parent-Teacher Organization meeting at 6 p.m., April 20, in the school cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Gentry Sunrise Service

An Easter Sunrise Service will be held at the Gentry United Methodist Church, corner of Collins and 1st Street, at 7 a.m., April 24. An Easter Cantata presented by the church choir will follow at 9 a.m.

Gravette Community Sunrise Service

Several Gravette churches are cooperating for a community-wide Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 24, at the First Assembly of God Church in Gravette. The service will include congregational singing and special music with participation by all cooperating churches. There will also be a brief Easter message. Coffee and doughnuts will be served after the service and everyone in the area is welcome to attend.

Decatur United Methodist Church Easter Services

The Decatur United Methodist Church will be holding a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., April 21. The church will hold an Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m., April 24.

Highfill United Methodist Church Easter Services

The Highfill United Methodist Church will be holding a Good Friday service at 6 p.m., April 22. An Easter breakfast will be held at 8 a.m., April 24, and an Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10:30 a.m., April 24.

Maysville Sunrise Service

An Easter sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Maysville Baptist Church with other churches participating. There will be special singing and a speaker. A breakfast will follow and everyone in the Maysville community is invited to attend.

Mt. Zion Gospel Singing

The Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church holds a monthly gospel singing at 5 p.m., on the fourth Saturday of the month. The featured musicians for this month’s singing will be the Kingfisher Family, Leach Family, New Directions and Disciples, all from Tahlequah, Okla. The groups will be performing in Cherokee and English. This month's singing will be held at 5 p.m., April 23. For more information, contact Pastor Jheri Roberts at 752-7082.

Easter Services at Harvest Baptist

Harvest Baptist Church will hold morning services Easter Sunday to celebrate the risen Savior. Sunday school starts at 10 a.m. and church services begin at 11 a.m. An Easter drama will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Jolly Good Times Club

The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club will be held Wed., April 27, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center.

Members will gather in the computer room at 10:15 a.m.

Jeanne Hubbard will give the program. The potluck lunch will feature meat prepared by Mary, veggies by Jeanne, bread by Susan and desserts by Eda and Betty. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

GSAC Spaghetti Dinner

The Gentry Senior Activity Center will hold an all-youcan-eat spaghetti dinner, with dessert, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the center. The fundraiser is to help support the Senior Meal Program. Tickets are a donation of $6 for adults and $3 for children under 6.

Decatur High School Graduation

The Decatur High School Graduation ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m., May 13, in the Lloyd Peterson Gymnasium.

Decatur Fire Dues

Decatur Rural Fire Dues are due May 1. Property owners living outside Decatur’s City Limits but inside the Decatur Fire Department’s response area are required to pay $40 per year for each dwelling on their property. If the dues are not paid, residents will be fined $500 for each fire call on their property. For more information, call 752-3912.

Diabetes and Obesity Education

Ozarks Community Hospital will hold free diabetes and obesity education classes the third Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the OCH cafeteria. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Reservations should be made by calling 344-6464.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Gentry Easter Egg Hunt will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, in the Gentry City Park. There will be four age groups - ages 3 and under; ages 4-5; ages 6-8; and ages 9-10. The event is being hosted by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce and the Gentry High School National Honor Society.

Gravette Egg-stravaganza

Gravette’s Egg-stravaganza will be held Saturday, April 23, at the Ozarks Community Hospital and Clinic grounds with a variety of free activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Separate egg hunts for children ages 0-10 will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Decatur Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Decatur Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10 a.m., April 23 in Veteran’s Park. The Chamber is planning to hide more than 660 eggs and will have some special prizes this year, according to organizer David Flynt. The hunt will be divided into the age catagories of 2-3 years old, 4-5 years old, 6-7 years and and 8-10 years old. The child in each catagory that finds the most eggs will win an Easter basket. In addition, a golden egg will be hidden for each age group with money inside. Children can also win a bicycle or tricycle if they find the special egg with the picture of the bike or trike inside.

Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza

The Decatur Assembly of God Church will present its annual “Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza” at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23. There will be four age groups - ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 - and thousands of candies and eggs to hunt. Hundreds of prizes and several grand prizes will be given away. New this year is a designated hunting area for children with special needs.

Gentry Band Yard Sale

The Gentry High School Band will hold its annual yard sale on May 7. Donations of items for the sale are now being accepted. Call Shawn Hunter, 238-3195, for more information Kindergarten, Pre-kindergarten Enrollment

Children who live in the Gravette School District and who will reach age 5 on or before Aug. 1 may be registered for kindergarten at Glenn Duffy Elementary School.

Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 25-29, to 6 p.m. on April 29, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 30. Parents or guardians must provide proof of age for the child, the child’s social security number, his or her immunization record, evidence of a comprehensive and developmental physical and proof of residence.

Parents should not fail to preregister because their child needs a physical or current immunizations. Pre-kindergarten enrollment for children 4 years of age on or before Aug.

Sulphur Springs Spirit Night

The Sulphur Springs Special Events, Inc. invites everyone to dine at the Chick-fil-A on Walton Blvd. in Bentonville on Wed., April 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For each one who dines at Chick-fil-A and puts their receipt into the specified box on the 27th, Chick-fil-A will return a portion of the money spent to Sulphur Springs Special Events to be used to benefit its scholarship fund.

Drug Take Back

The Gentry and Gravette Police Departments will hold another drug take-back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. Any unused or expired medication - prescription or non-prescription, solid or liquid - may be turned in for safe disposal. The program is part of a national prevention program to reduce drug abuse and to safely dispose of medications which might otherwise end up in streams, rivers and lakes.

Care and Share Emergency Help

Families in Gravette School District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store.

Gravette Citywide Yard Sale

Gravette Mayor Byron Warren has announced the citywide yard sale is scheduled Saturday, June 11. “No yard sale permits will be needed for sales held on that date,” according to the announcement.

Persons who don’t regularly hold yard sales should make preparations. The more sales that are scheduled the more successful the event can be.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur on the first and third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Knitting/Crocheting Group

Busy Hands Knitting and Crochet Group holds meetings in Decatur the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Men and women of all ages are invited - children under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult. The group is emphasizing making items for charities. Free lessons are available. Men's Fellowship Gathering

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering on thethird Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. Each man is asked to bring a main dish or a side for dinner. Computers Needed

The Gentry Lions Club is collecting and refurbishing computers and laptops and giving them to students in need of a computer. Computers and laptops - up to about 5 years old - are being accepted. Hard drives are reformatted and a lighter Linuxbased operating system and programs are installed. For more information or to donate a used computer to the Lions Club, contact Randy Moll at 233-0081.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets on the first Tuesday of each month - at 7 p.m.

New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

Gentry Senior Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry PublicLibrary) is open from 9 a.m.

until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.

Gravette Senior Center

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, at 1870 Limekiln Road, is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
