— Jolly Good Times Club

The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club will be held Wednesday, April 27, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Members will gather in the computer room at 10:15 a.m. Jeanne Hubbard will present the program. The potluck lunch will feature meat prepared by Mary, veggies by Jeanne, bread by Susan and desserts by Eda and Betty. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

GSAC Spaghetti Dinner

The Gentry Senior Activity Center will hold an all-youcan-eat spaghetti dinner, with dessert, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the center. The fundraiser is to help support the Senior Meal Program. Tickets are a donation of $6 for adults and $3 for children under 6.

Decatur Easter Egg Hunt

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce’s annual Easter egg hunt was rescheduled due to rain and storms. It will be held at 10 a.m., April 30, in Veterans Park. There will be some special prizes in addition to the Easter basket for each age group this year.

Decatur Egg-stravaganza

The Decatur Assembly of God Church rescheduled its annual Easter egg hunt to 1 p.m., April 30. Hundreds of prizes and several grand prizes will be given away. The hunt will also feature a designated area for children with special needs. The egg hunt will take place on the grounds of the DAG Church, located at 675 N. Main Street in Decatur. CBCO Blood Drives

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold blood drives in Gentry and Decatur on Monday, May 2. A drive from 8:30 to 11 a.m. will be held at the Gentry branch of Arvest Bank, 320 E. MainStreet. A second drive will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Decatur Medi Clinic, 346 N. Main Street, Decatur. Eligibility requirements include weighing at least 110 pounds, being in general good health and presenting the required identification.

Decatur Pre-K Enrollment

The Decatur Northside Elementary School will be holding pre-kindergarten enrollment for 3 and 4 year old students from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 5. Parents are asked to bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, social security card and vaccination records. For more information, call the school office at 752-3981.

Diabetes/Obesity Ed.

Ozarks Community Hospital will hold free diabetes and obesity education classes the third Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the OCH cafeteria. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Reservations should be made by calling 344-6464. Contact Kathy Smith, instructor, at 344-6458 for information.

International Night

The Decatur Northside Elementary School is holding an International Night from 6 to 8 p.m., May 9. Parents and community members are invited to tour the countries from around the world and learn about their cultures, food, dress and customs without ever leaving the school cafeteria. Wyatt Hopkins Poker Run

The Second Annual Wyatt Hopkins Memorial Poker Run, sponsored by the Decatur Fire Department, will be held May 7. All proceeds from the poker run will benefit the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Costs are $20 for riders and $10 for passengers, with a prize of $250 for the best hand and $150 for the worst hand. Participants will receive a T-shirt and lunch. The Decatur High School Graduation ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m., May 13, in the Lloyd Peterson Gymnasium.

Decatur Fire Dues

Decatur Rural Fire Dues are due May 1. Property owners living outside Decatur’s City Limits but inside the Decatur Fire Department’s response area are required to pay $40 per year for each dwelling on their property. If the dues are not paid, residents will be fined $500 for each fire call on their property. For more information, call 752-3912.

Gravette Kindergarten, Pre-K Enrollment

Children who live in the Gravette School District and who will reach age 5 on or before Aug. 1 may be registered for kindergarten at Glenn Duffy Elementary School. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 25-29, to 6 p.m. on April 29, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 30. Parents or guardians must provide proof of age for the child, the child’s social security number, his or her immunization record, evidence of a comprehensive and developmental physical and proof of residence. Parents should not fail to preregister because their child needs a physical or currentimmunizations. Pre-kindergarten enrollment for children 4 years of age on or before Aug. 1, and whose family income does not exceed 200 percent of the poverty level, may also be completed at the above times. Sulphur Spirit Night

The Sulphur Springs Special Events invites everyone to dine at the Chick-fil-A on Walton Blvd. in Bentonville on Wed., April 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For each one who dines at Chick-fil-A and puts their receipt into the specified box on the 27th, Chick-fil-A will return a portion of the money spent to Sulphur Springs Special Events to be used to benefit its scholarship fund.

Drug Take Back

The Gentry and Gravette Police Departments will hold another drug take-back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. Any unused or expired medication - prescription or nonprescription, solid or liquid - may be turned in for safe disposal. The program is part of a national prevention program to reduce drug abuse and to safely dispose of medications which might otherwise end up in streams, rivers and lakes.

Care and Share Emergency Help

Families in Gravette School District wishing toapply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store.

Citywide Yard Sale

Gravette Mayor Byron Warren has announced the citywide yard sale is scheduled Saturday, June 11. “No yard sale permits will be needed for sales held on that date,” according to the announcement. Persons who don’t regularly hold yard sales should make preparations. The more sales that are scheduled the more successful the event can be.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur on the first and third Thursday of every month, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering on the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. Each man is asked to bring a main dish or a side for dinner. VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets on the first Tuesday of each month - at 7:30 p.m.

New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

Gentry Senior Center

Gentry Senior Activity Center, at 121 East Main Street (just east of the Gentry Public Library) is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals and rides to the center and activities are available Monday through Friday by calling Jackie Bader, the center’s manager, at 736-0378. Van routes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - Gentry, Highfill and Springtown; and Tuesday and Friday - Gentry and Decatur.

Gravette Senior Center

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, at 1870 Limekiln Road, is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many activities are scheduled and lunch is served every weekday.
