Lions ready for football season

Century-degree weather hasn't hindered the Gravette Lions as they held morning practices the first part of this week. The 50-plus Lions on the practice field are set to begin alternating between morning and evening practices later this week. Coach Bill Harrelson's Lions will hold a scrimmage on Gravette Day, Aug. 13, a scrimmage Aug. 19 during Lions Pride Night, and a scrimmage against Lincoln on Aug. 25. The Lions open their 2011 season at home against Jay, Okla., on Friday, Sept. 2.
