WESTSIDE — Roy Baer

Roy Albert Baer, 87, of Gentry, died July 26, 2011, at his home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Francesville, Ind., to Henry Baer and Eliza Slater Baer. He moved to Keene, Texas, in 1963 and was a dairy farmer. He had lived in the Gentry area since 1980 and was a member of the Gentry Seventh-day Adventist Church. He married Evelyn Thompson in Knox, Ind., on Dec. 15, 1946.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ted Baer; one daughter, Judith Baer; one brother, Rueben Baer; and two sisters, Katherine May and Annabell Flenner.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn of the home; one daughter, Lucy Bradley and husband Franklin of Hillsboro, Texas; one son, Samuel Baer and wife Heather of Ennis, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were July 29 at the Gentry Seventh-day Adventist Church, with Ray House and Glen Hill officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Paul Bynum

Paul E. Bynum, Jr., 54, of Springdale, died July 25, 2011.

He was born Nov. 12, 1956, in Pryor, Okla., to Paul E. Bynum, Sr., and Helen Warder Bynum. He attended Siloam Springs schools and participated in all sports. He also attended Western Kentucky University. He was in management at Bynum Home Furnishings in Siloam Springs; sales and marketing for the Sealy Mattress Co.; sales representative for La-Z-Boy, Inc., and was a regional manager for Southern Motion, Inc. He grew up in the First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springdale

He is survived by his parents, of Springdale; his brother Randall and wife Anne, of Little Rock, and his business partner and former wife, Jan Walker.

Funeral services were July 30 at Backstrom Pyeatte Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. Internment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Arrangements were by Backstrom Pyeatte Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Jay Carver

Jay Warren Carver, 88, of Bentonville, died July 24, 2011, at Concordia Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Bella Vista. He was born in Delaware County, Okla., on June 20, 1923, to the late Tom and Myrtle (Williamson) Carver. He retired from the Benton County Road Department, and his joy in life was living on the farm.

Survivors include his children, Jerry Carver and Patsy Robertson of Hiwasse; seven grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services were held July 27 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse. Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Robert Coyle

Robert Evans Coyle, 84, of Shawnee, Kan., formerly of Sulphur Springs, died July 12, 2011.

He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clifford and Inez Coyle. He graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and later served in Alaska during World War II. He married Vera Millard on Sept. 16, 1950. He retired from the insurance business in 1992. He was a member of the Christian Church and was a Past Master of Shawnee Masonic Lodge, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Joe Coyle.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike; and one grandchild.

Funeral service was July 15 at Amos Funeral Home in Shawnee, with interment at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn Newkirk

Carolyn Newkirk, 46, of Garfield died July 25, 2011, in Lawrence, Kan.

She was born April 19, 1965, in Manhattan, Kan., to James and Betty Furman.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Newkirk of Gravette; a son, Shawn Newkirk of Gravette; a stepsister, Suzanne Kirk of Garfield; a sister; and her stepmother, Sally Furman of Garfield.

Memorial service was July 30 at Faith Bible Church in Gravette.

Cremation arrangements were by Chapel Oaks Crematory and Funeral Home in Lawrence, Kan.

Ruth Wilkerson

Ruth C. Wilkerson, 89, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., died July 26, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

She was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Delaware County, Okla., to Grover and Helen Anderson Cannon. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Walmart.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Michael Wilkerson and wife Joyce of Kansas, Okla., and Ricky Dale Wilkerson and wife Lana of West Siloam Springs; two daughters, Barbara Jean Tucker of Colcord, Okla., and Sherry Hawpe and husband Ron of Bella Vista; a sister; 16 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were July 30 at Bethel United Methodist Church in West Siloam Springs. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

Donald Lee Foster

Donald Lee Foster, 69, of Gentry, AR, died July 25, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, AR. Born May 7, 1942 in Decatur, AR, he was the son of Talton Fountain Foster and Lola Mae Burns (Wood). He was a graduate of Gentry High School. Donald was an auto mechanic and fleet technician for General Telephone Company. He was a member of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks and Falling Springs Church, Decatur, AR. On December 23, 1961, he married Maxine Kennicutt in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Lynn Foster and two brothers, Everett Foster and Marvin Foster.

Survivors include his wife Maxine of the home; one son, Aaron Foster and wife Isabel of Trenton, TN; four grandchildren, Daniela Suiter, Carla Del-Giorno, Nicolas Borrego, and Isaiah Lee Foster; six great grandchildren, Jacob, Shawn, Lincoln, Giada, Nicolas and Emma; brother, Clinton A. Foster of Grosebeck, TX, sister, Pauline Grimm of Riverside, CA, brothers, Carl Wood and Larence Wood, both of Decatur, AR; aunts, Irma Jones, Audrey Collar, Bonnie Pike, and Dorothy Hawkins; and uncle, Lonnie Burns.

Pallbearers were Nick Borrego, Greg Crowder, Will Suiter, Isaiah Lee Foster, Joe O’Flahtery, and Bob DelGiorno. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Holzkamper, Paul Sitton, James Tucker, Ed Wood, and Kenneth Good.

Graveside services was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Falling Springs Cemetery, with Brother Wil Gardner offi ciating. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, AR.
