Owen Gaines Band to play during Saturday car show

BAND PLANS TO PLAY OLD TRUCK-DRIVING SONGS AND CAR SONGS IN ‘HOT-RODDED UP’ STYLE

— The Owen Gaines Band will be one of the featured performances during the car show at the 58th Annual Decatur Barbecue Festival.

The band plans to play old truck-driving songs and carsongs, “hot-rodded up” for the car show, according to Matt Davis, a native of Decatur. The band draws inspiration from artists like Joe Diffie, Waylon Jennings and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The band members are longtime friends who enjoy getting together to play and have fun, according to Davis.

The band recently performed in Decatur for the Second Annual Wyatt Hopkins Memorial Run, held in May to benefit the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

The performance had special meaning for the band because the band is named after Davis’ youngest son, Owen Gaines Davis, who spent five months in theArkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Thankfully, Gaines - who goes by his middle name - is doing wonderfully now and is keeping his parents busy just trying to keep up.

The Owen Gaines Band will perform from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

on the stage in Veteran’s Park.
