New student enrollment is ongoing

Glenn Duffy Elementary School continues fall enrollment

— Zane Vanderpool, principal at Glenn Duffy Elementary School in Gravette, announced that new student enrollment for students kindergarten through grade two began Aug. 1, and enrollment can be completed any weekday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Children who live in the Gravette School District and have reached the age of 5 on or before Aug. 1, may be registered for kindergarten. Enrollment packets may be downloaded and completed in advance. The school website is www.gde. gravetteschools.net.

Vanderpool also provided the following information for parents and students:

“Glenn Duffy Elementary offers a rich academic experience to our students,” Vanderpool said. “The classroom experience will include phonics, guided reading, mathematics, science and social studies, as well as socialization skills and learning centers. In addition to the core academic curriculum, the students are also included in art, music, library, physical education, computer lab, character education and enrichment through the gifted and talented program. Glenn Duffy strives to offer each student the best possible background for academic and social success as they begin their education foundations.”

According to Vanderpool, “Returning students will be excited about the new look at the school. Summer crews have done great work to remodel areas inside and outside the building. We are proud of the outcomes and look forward to another great year at Glenn Duffy.”

A combination of district funds and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds were allocated to make facility improvements. Among noticeablechanges are wall painting, replacement of ceiling tile and grid, parking lot resurfacing and installation of sound amplification systems.
